Nicole Trembley, senior vice president, Fleishman-Hillard

Nearly 15 years ago, I attended an IABC luncheon at the Figlio’s on the Plaza. Angie Read and Kim Romary welcomed me at the front table. During our brief conversation, they asked me if I would consider volunteering for the chapter. And I have been hooked ever since.

I have had amazing leadership opportunities during my career with IABC including chapter president, southern region board member and co-chair of the Southern Region Conference. With the thousands of meetings, emails and conferences, there are always two things that rise to the top that I like to share with incoming IABC volunteers.

  • Leadership Growth — This organization allows you to have risk-free leadership opportunities. You can try something new and be surrounded by a forgiving and supportive group of leaders.  This is such a fantastic benefit since we don’t get that in our paying jobs.
  • It’s All About the People — As cliché as it sounds, the people is what makes KC/IABC a leader among all the chapters. I have built so many friendships over the years and continue to find new connections.
